The West Virginia Poetry Society, a member of the National Federation of State Poetry Societies, was established on July 13, 1950. Many of our members are nationally known poets and activists within the poetry community. At present, we have five local chapters in Charleston, Milton, Morgantown, Ripley and Weirton as well as members from around the country. The Poets' Crossroads is our quarterly newsletter and Laurels is a chapbook of member poetry and is also published each quarter. The Annual convention is held in October at rotating sites and provides educational sessions on poetry, announcement of annual poetry contest winners, open readings, and an opportunity to meet and discuss mutual interests with other members.
We have many new and exciting plans for the upcoming year. Please join us!
*Please note that this page is updated on a weekly basis and more information is being added all of the time. If there is something you would like to see, please contact us.
